centre of gravity (CoG)

imaginary point calculated by adding up the moments of the weights of all segments of a body or object. Usually the same as centre of mass (CoM) (except where gravity varies within a body or object, as for example in a tall building - gravitational force would be very slightly different over the height of the building, so the CoG and the CoM would be very close but not in exactly the same place).
