clouding, central cornealĀ Diffuse, hazy appearance of the cornea due to oedema of the central region of the cornea, usually associated with the wearing of hard contact lenses (mainly PMMA), but it may also occur in keratoconus, Fuch's endothelial dystrophy or disciform keratitis. It is most easily seen with a slit-lamp using retroillumination against the pupil margin or sclerotic scatter illumination. This condition may give rise to Sattler's veil.
