cell plate

a noncellulose structure that is the precursor to the cell wall; it forms between daughter nuclei during mitosis.

cell plate

A partition formed during cell division in plants and some algae that separates the two newly formed daughter cells.

cell plate

a membrane of differentially staining material in plant cells that appears at the equator of the spindle in TELOPHASE of MITOSIS, and is concerned with the formation of the MIDDLE LAMELLA between the two new cells. See CYTOKINESIS.
