cefamandole /cef·a·man·dole/ (-man´dōl) a semisynthetic second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic; used primarily as c. nafate, the sodium salt of the cefamandole formyl ester.
cefamandole [sef″ah-man´dōl]
a semisynthetic broad-spectrum second-generation cephalosporinantibiotic administered by injection in treatment of a wide variety of infections, usually as cefamandole nafate, a sodium salt.

This testing included culturing onto an agar base containing buffered charcoal yeast extract and enriched with [alpha]-ketoglutarate and L-cysteine (23) (Oxoid, Dardilly, France) with cefamandole, polymyxin B, and anisomycin for Legionella spp.
It was resistant to ampicillin, cefamandole, cefoxitin sodium, cotrimoxazole, and tetracycline.
In our institution, second-generation cephalosporin results are reported only if the organism is resistant to cefazolin, and third-generation drugs are reported only if the isolate is resistant to both cefoxitin and cefamandole.
