cat·a·stal·sis

(kat'ă-stal'sis),
A contraction wave resembling ordinary peristalsis but not preceded by a zone of inhibition.

catastalsis

(1) An obsolete term for inhibition, restriction or restraint. 
(2) A near-extinct term for a forward peristaltic wave in the gastrointestinal tract that is unaccompanied by a preceding inhibitory wave.
