Extensive searches of both the US National Library of Medicine's Medline database and the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature identified only four dated articles suggesting that contamination of a capillary blood sample with isopropyl alcohol may produce erroneously elevated results (Ball & Hughes, 1976:1279; Phillips, Pain & Ormsby, 1977:790-791; Grazaitis & Sexson, 1980:221-223; Togari, Oda & Wada, 1987:408-409).
