When a Stensen's duct injury is suspected, the duct may be cannulated and methylene blue may be gently injected into it.
The trachea was intubated to ensure a patent airway, and the right carotid artery was cannulated to measure arterial pressure.
I regularly cannulated patients for chemotherapy and other supportive therapies such as blood transfusions--many of these patients need long-term access to support their treatment, such as Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICCs) and Central Venous Catheters (CVCs).
