calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (Pindborg tumor),
n an uncommon tumor arising from odontogenic epithelium characterized by focal areas of calcification. It has the same age, gender, and site distribution as the ameloblastoma.

It includes ameloblastoma, odontogenic myxoma, adenomatoid odontogenic tumor, calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (Pindborg tumor), calcifying odontogenic cyst (Gorlin cyst), ameloblastic fibroma, ameloblastic fibro-odontoma, compound odontoma, and complex odontoma.
Clear cell odontogenic carcinoma can be distinguished from the clear cell variant of calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor because it lacks the characteristic calcifications and amyloid deposition.
The imaging differential diagnosis should include ameloblastoma, calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor, ossifying fibroma, histiocytosis, osseous hemangioma, and giant-cell reparative granuloma.
