CDH18

A gene on chromosome 5p14.3 that encodes cadherin 18, a so-called type-II (atypical) cadherin (which lacks a HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence specific to type-I cadherins). It is expressed specifically in the CNS and is thought to be involved in synaptic adhesion, axon outgrowth and guidance.
