PDE4C

A gene on chromosome 19p13.11 that encodes a nucleotide phosphodiesterase, which plays a critical role in signal transduction by hydrolysing the second messenger cAMP to AMP or cGMP to GMP; it thereby plays a role in regulating physiological processes, including vascular proliferation and contraction, cardiac contractility, platelet aggregation, hormone secretion and immune cell activation.
