n bronchial tree disorder characterized by the bronchial walls dilating irreversibly resulting in their destruction. Can be congenital but may also be caused by a tumor or by a foreign body that has been accidentally aspirated. Treatment includes expectorants, antibiotics, and (rarely) surgery of the affected part.
