n an emergency treatment aimed at restoring natural respiration in a person who has stopped breathing in which the rescuer inflates the victim's lungs by breathing air into his or her oral cavity or nose directly or through a ventilation device. The technique may be combined with cardiac compressions if the victim has no pulse.
