The rare black poplar tree over 100ft high stood on a path off North Road near Burton Dean Park for over 100 years before it was chopped down because Kirklees had fears it may topple over.
Under the trees, tightly bound by black poplar and white willow, the brook has changed.
I would question some of the tree felling, especially a stand of black poplars (one of the UK's rarest species) felled to accommodate the new road way.
