bivalved cast Etymology: L, bis + valva, valve a cast that is cut in half to detect or relieve pressure underneath, especially when a patient has decreased or no sensation in the portion of the body surrounded by the cast. | The purpose of this case report is to describe the use of a constraint-induced movement therapy protocol, which we termed "Pediatric Constraint-Induced Therapy (Pediatric CI Therapy)," that: (1) was given more intensively than others have reported and more intensively than recommended for adults with chronic stroke and (2) involved the use of a full-arm, bivalved cast on the less affected UE throughout the 3-week intervention. |
