bioptome tip catheter

bioptome tip catheter

[bī·op′tōm]
a catheter with a special end designed for obtaining endomyocardial biopsy samples. It is threaded through a guiding catheter to the right ventricle, where it snips small tissue samples from the septal wall for pathological examination. The bioptome tip device is used to monitor heart transplantation patients for early signs of tissue rejection.
