synchrony /syn·chro·ny/ (-krah-ne) the occurrence of two events simultaneously or with a fixed time interval between them.
atrioventricular (AV) synchrony in the heart, the physiological condition of atrial electrical activity followed by ventricular electrical activity. bilateral synchrony the occurrence of a secondary synchronous discharge at a location in the brain exactly contralateral to a discharge caused by a lesion. synchrony [sing´kro-ne] 1. the simultaneous occurrence of two events. 2. the linkage of two events by a fixed time interval. 3. synchronism. atrioventricular synchrony (AV synchrony) in the heart, the physiological condition of atrial electrical activity followed by ventricular electrical activity, with the interval between being that necessary for impulse conduction from atria to ventricles.
