cleft, or split into two parts, as in the spinous processes of the cervical vertebrae.

n a genus of anaerobic bacteria containing gram-positive rods of highly variable appearance. Pathogenicity for human beings or for animals has not been reported, although these bacteria have been isolated from the feces of infants and older people.
