bellows ventilator,
a respiratory care device in which oxygen and other gases are mixed in a mechanism that contracts and expands. The system pressure is increased or decreased in the chamber surrounding the bellows. The gases are moved into the patient circuit when the system pressure increases. As the patient exhales, the bellows contracts and fills again with gases from air and oxygen intakes.
