finger /fin·ger/ (fing´ger) one of the five digits of the hand.
baseball finger  mallet f.
clubbed finger  a finger with clubbing.
index finger  forefinger.
mallet finger  partial permanent flexion of the terminal phalanx of a finger caused by an object striking the end or back of the finger, owing to rupture of the attachment of the extensor tendon.
ring finger  the fourth digit of the hand.
webbed fingers  syndactyly of the fingers.

Permanent flexion of the terminal phalanx of a finger due to a break in the extensor tendon resulting from a blow from a ball or other object. Also called hammer finger, mallet finger.

Mallet finger Sports medicine A flexion deformity at a 30º angle of the distal phalanx, produced by a blow to the tip of the finger, which in US is often associated with catching a baseball thrown at high speed, resulting in the forced flexion of the distal phalanx and a separation–by rupture or avulsion–fracture of the common extensor tendon from its insertion in the base of the distal phalanx, accompanied by an inability to extend the fingertip
