Balanitis xerotica obliterans is the penile counterpart of lichen sclerosus (lichen sclerosus et atrophia).
Background: We analyzed the incidence of balanitis xerotica obliterans (BXO) by both age and ethnicity at an equal-access health care facility.
Of the 5 patients who were circumcised before presentation, 3 had had balanitis xerotica obliterans and had been circumcised within 8 years preceding the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma of the penis.
