azlocillin sodium [az′lōsil′in] a semisynthetic penicillin antibiotic. indications It is prescribed for lower respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, bone, and joint infections, and bacterial septicemia caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms, mainly Pseudomonas aeruginosa. contraindication Hypersensitivity to any of the penicillins prohibits its use. adverse effects The most serious adverse reactions are anaphylactic reactions, convulsive seizures, epigastric pain, reduction in blood elements, and elevation in hepatic and renal parameters.
