autoradiography

autoradiography /au·to·ra·di·og·ra·phy/ (aw?to-ra?de-og´rah-fe) the making of a radiograph of an object or tissue by recording on a photographic plate the radiation emitted by radioactive material within the object.
autoradiography (ô´tōrādēog´rfē),
n 1. a photographic recording of radiation from radioactive material, obtained by placing the surface of the radioactive material in close proximity to a photographic emulsion.
n 2. the use of radioactive substances introduced into tissue followed by the placement of a photographic plate on the surface of the tissue preparation, usually employed in cytology and histology.

autoradiography
the making of a radiograph of an object or tissue by recording on an x-ray plate the radiation emitted by radioactive material within the object. An immunologic technique used to visualize radioactive molecules in tissue sections or electrophoretic gels. Called also radioautography.
