autoimmune hepatitis, acute presentation

A type of autoimmune hepatitis that can take two forms:
• Acute “flare” of chronic liver disease—Over half of patients who presently have acutely bridging fibrosis or cirrhosis;
• Acute lobular hepatitis—Mainly centrilobular distribution with little or no portal inflammation, before progressing to classical chronic AIH.
