adj pertaining to deviation from the basic or typical.

a form of a disease which differs significantly in clinical signs or pathological lesions from classical or textbook forms of the disease, e.g. bovine atypical interstitial pneumonia.
atypical fever
a fever in which temperature variations are irregular.
atypical mycobacterial granuloma
see opportunist mycobacterial granuloma.
