A clinical trial comparing the effects on nonfatal myocardial infarction (MI) and coronary heart disease of a beta-blocker (atenolol) ± diuretic vs a calcium channel blocker (CCB, amlodipine) ± ACE inhibitor in hypertensives, and atorvastatin vs placebo in hypertensives with dyslipidemia.
Conclusion Primary events of nonfatal MI plus fatal coronary heart disease occurred in 1.9% of atorvastatin patients vs 3.0% of placebo patients.
