Ascomycotina /As·co·my·co·ti·na/ (-mi″ko-ti´nah) a subdivision of fungi of the division Dikaryomycota (or in some classifications the Eumycota; in others it is considered a class, Ascomycetes, in the Eumycota) characterized by formation of an ascus in which sexual spores are produced; it includes the yeasts, mildews, and cheese, jelly, and fruit molds.
