It followed that if Scaliger was determined to pursue an Aristotelian method in his explanation of Hippocrates--to supply, as Albertus had suggested, a definition, an account of the medical dream's causes, and an account of its signification--he must simultaneously perform bold exegetical maneuvers on Aristotle himself.
