arista (ä·riˑ·st),
n Ayurvedic method of medicine preparation that uses natural fermentation, similar to arava. Instead of using herbal juice, however, the herbs are infused or decocted in water; to this aqueous extract are added jaggery (raw cane sugar) and dried forest-flame bush flowers (containing yeast).
