arc of contact 
That portion of an extraocular muscle which wraps around the surface of the globe prior to the insertion of its tendon into the sclera. The point where the muscle first comes into contact with the globe is called the contact point. The arc of contact continually alters its length as the eye rotates. Syn. contact arc.

Without Items 2 and 4, the belt pull itself cannot be accurately determined, because those items fix the arc of contact and therefore the friction force between belts and driving pulley.
