a blood test used to evaluate the risks of atherogenic disease of the heart and peripheral arteries. Specific levels of certain apolipoproteins are also associated with conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, low-density lipoprotein receptor disorder, some types of renal failure, nephrotic syndrome, and estrogen depletion in women over the age of 50.
