apolipoprotein C3

An 8.7-kD protein and major constituent of chylomicrons and VLDL. Apolipoprotein C3 is a cofactor for sphingomyelinase, an inhibitor of lipoprotein lipase; it may activate lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase and modulate uptake of TG-rich remnants by hepatic receptors.
