occlusive dressing  one that seals a wound from contact with air or bacteria.
pressure dressing  one by which pressure is exerted on the covered area to prevent collection of fluids in underlying tissues.

antiseptic dressing,
a fabric, gauze, or pad treated with an antiseptic, a germicidal, or a bacteriostatic solution and applied to a wound or an incision to prevent or treat infection.

11 These antiseptic dressings are affixed about newly inserted catheters, pressed firmly onto the skin and covered with a transparent dressing.
The standard procedure is to put an antiseptic dressing on and if the cartilage is exposed we usually recommend trimming the cartilage and stitching the skin back together.
