anti-D /an·ti-D/ antibody against D antigen, the most immunogenic of the Rh antigens. Commercial preparations of anti-D, Rh0(D) immune globulin, are administered to Rh-negative women following the birth of an Rh-positive baby in order to prevent maternal alloimmunization against the D antigen, which may cause hemolytic disease of the newborn in a subsequent pregnancy. Called also anti-Rh0.
