antepartal /an·te·par·tal/ (an″te-pahr´t'l) antepartum.
antepartal [an′təpär′təl] Etymology: L, ante + parturire, to have labor pains pertaining to the period spanning conception and labor. antepartum [an″te-pahr´tum] occurring before childbirth, with reference to the mother. Spelled also ante partum. Called also antepartal and prepartal. antepartum/postpartum before or after childbirth; in the problem classification scheme of the omaha system this is defined as a client problem in the physiologic domain.
antepartal occurring before the young is born. antepartal paralysis see antepartum paralysis. antepartal recumbency inability to rise, without other signs, during the last one or two weeks of pregnancy is observed in cows and rarely other species.
