amoxycillin

amoxicillin, amoxycillin
an aminopenicillin, similar in action to ampicillin and susceptible to β-lactamase, but more efficiently absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and with a longer duration of action.

amoxicillin-clavulanic acid
addition of clavulanic acid widens the spectrum of activity and renders amoxicillin resistant to β-lactamase. A widely used antibiotic in dogs and cats.

Affected drugs are Chloroquine, sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine, halofantrine, co-trimoxazole, Amoxycillin, Ampicillin, Ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, Gentamicin, Metronidazole, Tetracycline, Cefalexin, Lincomycin, Oxtetracyclin.
Generally 18-24 million units penicillin G for 2-4 weeks are applied initially and this is followed by oral penicillin or amoxycillin for 3-12 months in addition.
The most commonly prescribed medications were antibiotics: flucloxacillin (45 prescriptions), followed by amoxycillin (21), trimethoprim (14), erythromycin (3) and chloramphenicol ointment (5).
