alveolar crestal fiber

alveolar crestal fiber

any of the many white, collagenous fibers of the periodontal ligament that extend from the alveolar process to the intermediate plexus, where their terminations mix with those of the cemental fibers which are just apical to the cementoenamel junction. Alveolar fibers surround the tooth and assist in resisting horizontal tooth movements.
