α-dextrinase /α-dex·trin·ase/ (-ās) isomaltase, limit dextrinase; an enzyme catalyzing the cleavage of linear and branched oligoglucosides and maltose and isomaltose, completing the digestion of starch or glycogen to glucose. It occurs in the brush border of the intestinal mucosa, as a complex with sucrase; see also sucrase-isomaltase deficiency.
