allotype a genetically determined variation in plasma proteins which may be recognized as antigenic by other members of the same species. Commonly applied to subclasses of immunoglobulins. allotype An inherited set of determinants or sequence of amino acids–eg, on an Ig–and other proteins demonstrating heterogeneity, which is specific for an individual and more common in a racial group.
