allotype /al·lo·type/ (al´o-tīp) any of several allelic variants of a protein that are characterized by antigenic differences.alloty´pic
al·lo·type (l-tp)
n.
Any of the genetically determined variants in the constant region of a given subclass of immunoglobulin that is detectable as an antigen by members of the same species having a different constant region.
allo·typic (-tpk) adj.
allotype
a genetically determined variation in plasma proteins which may be recognized as antigenic by other members of the same species. Commonly applied to subclasses of immunoglobulins.
allotype
An inherited set of determinants or sequence of amino acids–eg, on an Ig–and other proteins demonstrating heterogeneity, which is specific for an individual and more common in a racial group. Cf Idiotype, Isotype.
