ADH4

A gene on chromosome 4q21-24 that encodes a class-II alcohol dehydrogenase 4-pi subunit of the alcohol dehydrogenase family, which metabolise various substrates, including ethanol, retinol, other aliphatic
alcohols, hydroxysteroids and lipid peroxidation products. Class-II alcohol dehydrogenase exhibits a high activity for oxidation of long-chain aliphatic alcohols and aromatic alcohols.
