airplane splint,

a splint used to immobilize a shoulder during healing from injury, such as a fractured humerus, or shoulder surgery. The splint holds the arm in an abducted position at or below shoulder level, with the elbow bent. It extends to the waist and may be made of plastic or wire, or it may be supported by a plaster body.
