acid obtained from agaric and responsible for the anhidrotic action of the mushroom.

agaric acid

A water-soluble acid extracted from the fungus Polysporus officinalis, which had past currency in mainstream medicine as an irritant and antidiarrhoeal, and was used to reduce bronchial secretions and night sweats.
