aerocele

aerocele /aero·cele/ (ār´o-sēl″) pneumatocele (1).
epidural aerocele  a collection of air between the dura mater and the wall of the spinal column.

aer·o·cele (âr-sl)
n.
A cavity or pouch filled with air or gas, especially one connected to the trachea or larynx.

pneumatocele [noo-mat´o-sēl]
1. a tumor or cyst formed by air or other gas filling an adventitious pouch, such as a laryngocele, tracheocele, or gaseous swelling of the scrotum. Called also aerocele and pneumocele.
2. a usually benign, thin-walled, air-containing cyst of the lung, as in staphylococcal pneumonia. Called also pneumocele and pneumonocele.

aerocele
a tumor formed by air filling an adventitious pouch, such as laryngocele and tracheocele.

4-6) Abnormal expansions of the frontal sinuses have also been given the diagnosis of pneumocele, pneumosinus frontalis, sinus hypertrophy, aerocele, hyperpneumatization, and sinus ectasia.
For instance, an aerocele causes sinus expansion because of one-way air-trapping, [1] whereas atelectasis reduces sinus volume because of a complete ostial obstruction, with a subsequent gas resorption and formation of a vacuum.
