A gene on chromosome 6p21.3 that encodes a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell surface receptors, which interacts not only with advanced glycosylation end products, but also molecules
implicated in homeostasis, development and inflammation, as well as Alzheimer's and other diseases.
