the medication used to kill adult heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) as distinct from that used to kill the microfilarial (i.e. larval) stages. Some drugs are capable of both effects.

The objective of our study was to evaluate the efficacy of adulticide applications for reducing human cases of WNV; we compared the proportion and incidence of cases in the treated and untreated areas of Sacramento County in 2005 before and after aerial treatments.
