We're still trying to determine if it's a
direct effect on the adipose cells and how they differentiate or
proliferate, or whether it's a disruption of the endocrine feedback
loops. Possibly, the toxin that
induces adipose cell necrosis also induces necrosis of the inflammatory
infiltrate. The adipose cells should gradually break down and be
reabsorbed, leading to a reduced volume of visceral fat with a
subsequent decrease of insulin resistance. |
