adiponecrosis [ad′ipōnikrō′sis] Etymology: L, adeps + Gk, nekros, dead, osis condition a rarely used term referring to necrosis of fatty tissue in the body. The condition may be associated with hemorrhagic pancreatitis. adiponecrotic, adj. adiponecrosis necrosis of fatty tissue. adiponecrosis neonatorum induration of subcutaneous fat, thought to be caused by obstetric trauma, in the newborn.
