A muscle with origin from the transverse head from the capsules of the lateral four metatarsophalangeal joints, and from the oblique head from the lateral cuneiform bone and the bases of the third and fourth metatarsal bones, with insertion into the lateral side of the base of the proximal phalanx of the big toe, with nerve supply from the lateral plantar nerve, and whose action adducts the big toe.
