Etymology: Gk, aktis, ray, + L, conjunctivus, connecting; Gk, itis, inflammation an inflammation of the conjunctiva caused by exposure to the ultraviolet radiation of sunlight or other sources, such as acetylene torches, therapeutic lamps (sun lamps), and klieg lights.
