ac·ro·par·es·the·si·a

(ak'rō-par-es-thē'zē-ă)
1. Paresthesia of one or more of the extremities.
2. Nocturnal paresthesia involving the hands, most often of middle-aged women; formerly attributed to a lesion in the thoracic outlet, but now known to be a symptom of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Extreme sensitivity at the tips of the fingers or toes. Tingling or numbness in the extremities. The symptom may be a feature of POLYNEURITIS or of nerve compression.
