acataphasia

(ā″kat″ă-fā′zh(ē-)ă) [ a- + cataphasia]
1. Inability to verbalize thoughts coherently. It is due to a cerebral lesion.
2. A form of disordered speech in which statements are incorrectly formulated. Those affected may use words that sound like the ones they mean to use but are not appropriate to their thoughts, or they may use totally inappropriate expressions.
